NFS Underground 2 Browser is not official. It is a fan project, and the start page says so in its header: "Fan project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts." One developer built it, starting from another fan's recompilation tool, and the original game was made by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. This wiki documents the port from its own pages and from our play test in desktop Chrome on November 1, 2026. We give no legal advice and make no claim about legality or safety beyond what the sources say.

## Who made NFS Underground 2 Browser?

One developer made it, and the About tab tells the story in the first person. The text reads that they and their brother played the game together about 20 years ago, so they tried porting it to the browser to play together again. It "worked surprisingly well, and it got a bit out of hand." The page says it is great to see so many people playing. The start page asks for coffee money toward hosting and development costs, with no perks apart from a Discord role. The GitHub repository is listed under th0mk, which our entity card treats as the developer. The start page does not print a name, and we do not know more about them.

## How does it relate to NFSU2Recomp?

It is a fork of NFSU2Recomp. The Credits tab says the port is based on Talha Müderrisoğlu's NFSU2Recomp, "the original x86 → C static recompiler for NFSU2". It was forked from NFSU2Recomp's MIT-licensed version of October 16, 2026 and uses only code from that version. A static recompiler turns the old program's machine code into C code, and the port compiles that C to WebAssembly. Graphics use WebGPU and sound uses Web Audio, according to the GitHub page. The Credits also thank the makers of mods and translations, such as LunicAura106's Upscaled HUD texture pack and KyoriAsh's Multi 13 languages mod.

## Does EA endorse it?

No. The start page says it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts, and it lists an address for rights holders to write to. EA's own original online servers for the 2004 game closed on August 1, 2006, per Wikipedia. The port's online play uses its own server, as the [online guide](/wiki/nfs-underground-2/guides/online-free-roam/) describes. We do not know whether EA has said anything about the port.

## What does the GitHub code contain?

The repository contains none of the game's code or data. It is the port's source code only. To run it yourself you bring your own PC copy of the game, patched to v1.2 North America. That fits what we saw in the game: the start page says the game downloads data as it needs it, up to 1.7 GB, and offers to [preload it](/wiki/nfs-underground-2/settings/#game-data). We did not build the repository, so we cannot comment on how well that route works.

| Item | In the GitHub repository |
|---|---|
| Port source code | Yes |
| The game's code | No |
| The game's data | No |
| What you supply | Your own PC copy, patched to v1.2 North America |

## Why does this wiki not link to the site?

UBG76 does not host, stream or link to the game, and that includes the port's site. The site runs the PC game's own code and downloads the game's data as you play, so we chose not to send readers there. So we name nfsu2.xyz in plain text and link only to the GitHub source code and Wikipedia. Our game entity for this title has no play button at all. Everything on this wiki comes from copied start page text, the changelog and our own play test. If you decide to look for the port yourself, the [how to play guide](/wiki/nfs-underground-2/guides/how-to-play/) describes what we saw, and the [FAQ](/wiki/nfs-underground-2/faq/) has short answers.
