NFS Underground 2 Browser Controls: Keyboard, Pads and Touch

NFS Underground 2 Browser supports a keyboard, controllers, wheels and touch controls. The keyboard layout is on the port’s Controls tab and matches the table below. For controllers, wheels and touch we only have the port’s own notes, because we tested the game on a desktop in Chrome on November 1, 2026 and never connected a pad, a wheel or a touch screen. We say so again where it matters. Phone behavior in particular is unverified.

Which keyboard keys does the game use?

The arrow keys steer and drive, and the rest sit around them. The Controls tab lists these, and the full list is in the controls table .

In menus, use the arrow keys and Enter, and Esc goes back. Change keys in the game’s Options, Controls. The October 31 update also fixed keys held while the game lost focus, so they work again without pressing them again. We used the keyboard in our test, and the Transmission prompt offers Manual or Auto before a race.

Does it work with a controller?

The port says it supports controllers. The start page names the controller in a few spots, such as Start in place of Esc for saving and the right stick for quick chat (twice). The left stick click sounds the horn. The October 29 update lowered input lag with controllers and touch controls. We did not connect a controller, and we have no list of which models work.

Can you use a steering wheel?

Yes, the port lists wheels among its supported devices. The October 30 update says that with a wheel connected, keyboard steering no longer turns to full lock at speed. We did not test one. The page does not list wheel models or force feedback options, so we have nothing to say on either.

Can an RC radio act as a wheel?

The October 29 changelog says RC radios drive as a wheel. That is the whole note, so we cannot say which radios or adapters work or how to set them up. Treat it as untested.

How do touch controls work?

Touch controls put Steering on the left or right and Nitro on the same side as the steering, plus a Drift button and a Career status button in free roam. These come from the changelog:

Hold the steering control to open the touch settings. With quick chat on, a chat button replaces the 1 to 4 keys. The October 30 update also kept the help bar on Auto from covering the paint list or part names on touch screens.

What are the phone defaults?

Phones start at 75% resolution and show up to 16 cars. The start page says phones begin at a resolution scale of 75%, and the October 26 update says phones start at 16 other players’ cars (tablets at 24, with a cap of 32). The frame rate page text says 30 is steadier on slow phones and saves battery. The same update brought lighter graphics to start with and sound that no longer chops up on phones. We did not test any of this.
