What is Quick Play in Hamburger Hill?

Quick Play is the Hamburger Hill mode for single battles you set up yourself: pick one of 14 presets or tune the map, weather, insertion, factions and troop numbers, up to 32 soldiers on each side.

Quick Play opens on a board of 14 preset battles: Jungle Firefight, City Street Fight, Beach Invasion, Airborne Drop, Air Assault, Convoy Escort, Convoy Ambush, Hill 121, Village, Delta, Plantation, Highlands, Border and Shooting Range. Pick one and press Start, or press Configure to change it first.

The Quick Play settings table lists every option. The two troop sliders go up to 32 each, so one battle can hold 64 soldiers, the number the store page advertises. Your squad can hold up to 11 men besides you.

Squad Kit. The Loadout button opens the Squad Kit screen. Each man has a role, a gear level (Light, Medium or Heavy), a primary and a secondary weapon, two pouches and two kit slots. The Primary slot cycles through 14 weapons , and the pouches hold frag, smoke, stick grenades or a Molotov.

Spectator. With Spectator turned on under Rules, the battle starts as a free camera instead of a soldier. Tab switches between free, follow, chase and orbit views, and the on-screen help lists F2 for the controls. When we played Quick Play with Spectator off and our soldier was killed, the game went back to the Quick Play board.

Up to 64. The Your men and Enemy men sliders on the Army tab each go up to 32. The defaults are 12 a side.
Can you play as the enemy in Hamburger Hill?
In Quick Play, yes. The Your side setting offers U.S., Warlords and Granovians, and the enemy side can be set as well.
