How does Shred hit?
Shred is a Physical melee strike with a 7-yard reach and a stored target count of 1, coming back every 2 seconds at base. It is the Druid’s single-target melee hit, the counterpart to the area Swipe. Two bonus lines in the client point at a stun. One gives Shred a chance to stun for 1 second, and a bigger one adds targets and a 33% stun chance, but neither names its source.
Where does Shred fit in the Druid kit?
Shred is the opening spell for every Feral capstone build. Both Dire Bear Form and Cat Form replace Wrath with Shred at the start of a run, and the milestone Rake hands you Shred and Swipe together. It is the spell that turns the Druid from a 30-yard caster into a melee fighter.
Which talents change Shred?
Ferocity adds damage to Swipe and Shred, and Savage Fury adds damage to Shred alone over three ranks. Rake, the Feral milestone at 10 points, starts each run with Shred and Swipe and makes their hits bleed over 6 seconds.
The two Feral capstones at 30 points split from there, and you can only take one. Cat Form is the Shred build: 10% more damage, 10% more critical strike chance, 15% faster movement and a 20% shorter Shred cooldown. Dire Bear Form gives 25% more maximum health, 10% less damage taken and a free Swipe every 3 seconds, so it leans on Swipe instead.
