How does Mortal Strike hit?

Mortal Strike is a single heavy blow. The data stores one target and a 7-yard reach, so it goes to one enemy in melee range every 3 seconds before cooldown reduction. That is twice as long as Cleave waits, and it gives up Cleave’s extra targets.

Where does Mortal Strike fit in the Warrior kit?

It is the core of the Arms tree and works hand in hand with Execute, the 10-yard finisher from the same pool. All three Arms talents that name Mortal Strike also name Execute, so a Warrior who wants one usually wants both. You can roll it on a level-up card or open every run with it through Mortal Wounds.

Which talents change Mortal Strike?

Improved Execute raises the damage of Execute and Mortal Strike together over three ranks. Sweeping Strikes, the Arms milestone at 20 points, carries each hit on to two more enemies near the target for part of its damage, which fixes the spell’s one-target limit in a crowd. Mortal Wounds is the Arms capstone at 30 points. It starts each run with Mortal Strike, and any killing blow from Mortal Strike or Execute readies Mortal Strike again on the spot, at most once a second.

A separate bonus line in the client reads “Enemies hit by Mortal Strike take more damage from everything for 4 sec.” The data does not name its source.
