How does Frostbolt hit?

Frostbolt is a Frost bolt on one enemy up to 30 yards away, with a base interval of 1.5 seconds. That makes it the second fastest Mage spell after Fireball. Its stored data lists no slow, so any freezing comes from the Frost tree rather than from Frostbolt itself.

Where does Frostbolt fit in the Mage kit?

It is the Frost tree’s main bolt and its opening spell once you reach the capstone. A Frost Mage pairs it with Frost Nova and Blizzard from the same pool, and the tree’s school talents touch all three.

Which talents change Frostbolt?

Improved Frostbolt, the first Frost talent, shortens its cooldown over five ranks. Piercing Ice adds damage to all Frost spells, and Frostbite, the Frost milestone at 10 points, gives Frost spells a chance to freeze what they hit in place for 1.5 seconds. Splitting Ice, the milestone at 20 points, makes each Frostbolt splinter on impact and deal part of its damage to every enemy within 5 yards of the target.

Summon Water Elemental is the Frost capstone at 30 points. It starts every run with Frostbolt in place of Fireball, adds a Water Elemental that hurls Frostbolts of its own and sets off a free Frost Nova around you every 8 seconds.

The achievement no u asks you to slay Sapphiron in Naxxramas with a Frostbolt as the killing blow. Sapphiron is the fourth of the zone’s five bosses and arrives at 16:00.
