Is Azeroth Survivors Official? No, It Is a Fan Game by Aethus

Azeroth Survivors is an unofficial fan game by Aethus, not a Blizzard product, and its only official home is wow.aethus.pl.

No, Azeroth Survivors is not official. It is an unofficial fan game made by Aethus, and Blizzard Entertainment neither makes nor endorses it. The game runs on World of Warcraft client files, so the art, music and sound you see belong to Blizzard. The browser version at wow.aethus.pl installs nothing and runs in a normal tab, which makes it the low-risk way to play. What we cannot vouch for is the 755 MB Windows archive, because we have not scanned or run it. UBG76 is not the developer either. We write this wiki and link to the official site.

Who made Azeroth Survivors?

A fan developer who goes by Aethus made it, and the official site is wow.aethus.pl. The game’s credits read “Made by Aethus,” the hero picker has a “Buy me a coffee :)” support link and the official page links a Discord server in its busy message. We found no company named anywhere on the site, and everything we saw points to a single developer.

Is it made or endorsed by Blizzard?

No. Nothing on the official site claims Blizzard’s permission or support. World of Warcraft is a trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. The game uses Blizzard’s art and world without any license we could find, so treat it as a fan project that could change or go offline without notice. That is one more reason to keep an exported save, as the save backup guide explains.

Is the browser version safe?

As far as we can see, yes, as long as you play it at wow.aethus.pl. The table sums up what the browser version does and does not do, based on the official page and launcher script.

QuestionBrowser version at wow.aethus.pl
Installs softwareNo, it runs in a normal tab
Needs an account or paymentNo account, no sign-in, free to play
Stores data on your deviceYour save, in the site’s browser storage
DownloadsA few hundred megabytes of game files on the first visit
Third-party scripts on the pageNone in the HTML when we checked
Runs on other sitesNo, copies show “Fake website detected!”

That last row matters most. The launcher refuses to start on any other domain or inside another site’s frame and sends you to the real address. If a page claiming to be Azeroth Survivors plays the game without that warning, you are not on the official build. One more point: the Options screen can install AddOns from .zip files (“AddOns made for WoW 1.12 work”). An addon is code, so only install ones from sources you trust.

Is the Windows download safe?

We do not know, because we have not scanned or run it. The archive comes from the developer’s own domain: the Download game entry in the menu on wow.aethus.pl leads to a RAR file of about 755 MB, dated October 19, 2026 on the server. Download it only through that entry, check it with your own antivirus before you open it and skip any copy offered by another site. The download and mobile guide has the details.

Is it the same as the CurseForge addons or other rebuilds?

No. Both share the name, but neither is the official game. CurseForge lists three World of Warcraft addons with nearly the same name, and all of them run inside a WoW client rather than a browser tab:

AddonAuthorHow CurseForge describes it
Azeroth SurvivorsAshkenazii“A vampire survivors like game to play while you are on a flight path”
Survivors: AzerothDarnias“a Vampire Survivors-style minigame for the WoW Forever”
AzerothSurvivoraliminator“Azeroth Survivors as an addon”

You may also come across unofficial rebuilds of the game shared on code hosting sites. They are not the original, they can differ from the official build and some need a full copy of the World of Warcraft client to run. We do not link to them or recommend them. The original is the one at wow.aethus.pl.

Why does it use World of Warcraft files?

The game is built on a homemade engine that reads the original World of Warcraft client. The game’s own console log shows it is written in Rust on the Bevy engine, and the official build compiles to WebAssembly for the browser. While it loads, it streams original client files such as textures, models and music. That is why the zones, bosses and spell names feel straight out of classic Azeroth, from Elwynn Forest to Naxxramas, and why the Options screen can load addons written for WoW 1.12.

It is also the reason the IP question exists at all. Those files belong to Blizzard Entertainment, and this wiki only writes facts and our own text about them. To see what the game holds, start with the Azeroth Survivors classes and zones , or open the official site from the Azeroth Survivors game page .

Is Azeroth Survivors official? What else do players ask?

Is UBG76 the official Azeroth Survivors site?
No. UBG76 runs this wiki and a game page that links to wow.aethus.pl. We did not make the game and do not host its files.
Does Azeroth Survivors have ads on its official site?
When we checked the official page on October 31, 2026, its HTML loaded only the game’s own files, with no ad or tracking tags. The game menu does have an optional Buy me a coffee link.
