What is Hill Race?
Hill Race is a hill climb driving game where you balance a car over rolling hills to collect coins and grab fuel cans before your tank runs dry. Hill Race is a Scratch remix shared by devonpatterson2024 and based on griffpatch's Hill Climb Racing. UBG76 is not its developer or official site. Its graphics and menu music come from Fingersoft's Hill Climb Racing, and this page plays a packaged copy of the Scratch project.
If you have played Hill Climb Racing on a phone, you will know this one within seconds. A red jeep with a helmeted driver sits on a grassy hill, a fuel bar sits in the top corner and coins hang in the air ahead. Your job is to keep going as long as the fuel lasts, picking up coins and fuel cans along the way, without flipping the jeep onto its driver's head.
The whole game runs on two keys. The Right arrow is the gas and the Left arrow is the brake. In the air the same keys tilt the vehicle: Right rotates it backward and Left rotates it forward. That is where the skill lives. Too much gas on a steep climb lifts the nose until you go over backward, and too little leaves you rolling back down the slope you just tried to climb.
A run ends in one of three ways. Your driver's head hits the ground, the fuel bar empties or you reach the end of the course. Fuel cans on the road top the bar back up, so part of the game is judging whether you can make it to the next can. Coins come in 5, 25, 100 and 500 values, and the game also hands out bonus points for air time, wheelies and flips.
The version on this page has a long history on Scratch. Scratch creator griffpatch built Hill Climb Racing v1.0 in 2015 using graphics from Fingersoft's Hill Climb Racing. JojoCamNewton remixed it under the name Hill Race, and devonpatterson2024 remixed that remix in 2017. That last one is the copy you play here, packaged so it runs straight in the browser.
There are no upgrades, unlocks or garages. Press V and the game swaps you to another vehicle and course, such as a dirt bike on a sand track, which handles very differently from the jeep. Your score and personal best sit at the top of the screen, so every run gives you a number to beat.

Hold the Right arrow to drive, tap the Left arrow to brake and use both keys in the air to land on your wheels while you collect coins and fuel.

Press the gas
Hold the Right arrow to drive forward. On flat ground you can hold it down. On a steep climb, short presses keep the front wheels down.

Brake to stay level
The Left arrow brakes. It also pushes the nose down when you feel the jeep tipping backward, which saves a lot of runs on steep hills.

Steer in the air
Off a jump, Right tilts the vehicle backward and Left tilts it forward. Line the wheels up with the slope before you land so the driver's head stays clear of the ground.

Collect coins and fuel
Drive through coins for points and through fuel cans to refill the bar. If the bar empties or the driver's head hits the ground, the run is over.

What are the best tips for Hill Race?
Feather the gas on steep climbs, ease off before crests, tilt forward in the air and always aim for the next fuel can.
Feather the gas uphill. Don't pin the Right arrow on a climb. Short presses keep the nose down and the wheels driving instead of flipping you over backward.
Ease off before a crest. Let go of the gas as you reach the top of a hill so you roll over it instead of launching into a bad landing.
Use the brake to drop the nose. When the front end lifts too far, a tap of the Left arrow pulls it back toward level.
Land on the slope. In the air, tilt the vehicle so both wheels meet the ground at the same angle as the hill. A flat landing on a steep slope often tips you over.
Plan around fuel. Fuel cans are the only way to refill the bar. If one is coming up, it is worth slowing down to make sure you reach it in one piece.
Try the bike on sand. Press V to switch. The bike is lighter and flips more easily, so it is good practice for tilt control.
