A browser game works on a phone when its developer built touch into it, such as tap input, on-screen buttons or steering with a finger. On UBG76, twelve games work by touch: Rainbow Stack, Glide Bird, Wordle, Find The Cool Dude, Supreme Court: The Card Game, Shadow Master, Car Crush: Realistic Destruction, Charger City Driver, Drive Zone Online, Enduro Cross Motorsport, Plinko Idle and Hidden Grimoire: Idle Alchemy. These twelve games respond to touch, and they cover every category on the site. The table shows how touch works in each one and where it plays.

Rainbow Stack is the easiest place to start. It is a one-button game, and a tap on the screen counts as that button. Glide Bird works on a touch screen: touch and hold above the bird to rise and below it to drop. There are no on-screen buttons, and your finger covers part of the screen, so the arrow keys or W and S give finer control.

Supreme Court: The Card Game is the best pick for a longer sit-down session on a phone. You pick a real case, then tap tactic cards over five rounds to sway nine justices. It is satire and plays in English only.

Shadow Master asks whether you are on mobile when it starts and then uses tap controls. Its aiming is built around a mouse, though, so expect it to feel easier on a computer.

Why do some browser games not work on a phone?

Because the game only listens for keys or a mouse, and a phone has neither. MDN Web Docs describes touch events as “similar to mouse events,” which is why a game built for clicks, such as Rainbow Stack or Plinko Idle, often works with a finger. Keys are a different story. A phone has no arrow keys or W, A, S and D, so a game that drives with them has nothing to respond to unless the developer adds on-screen buttons.

Poki’s car games page puts the same idea simply: on mobile, “use the on-screen arrows to control your car.” Those arrows exist only when the game ships them. Several games on UBG76 do not:

• Hill Race uses the arrow keys and has no touch controls.
• Madalin Stunt Cars 2 is played with a keyboard.
• More Fish Idle Clicker catches fish when you hover the cursor over them, which touch screens do not really do.
• TL;DR needs a physical keyboard to type.
• Submersible needs both a mouse and a keyboard.
• Slice To Meet You slices while you hold the mouse button or Space, and its game page lists no touch support.

Which racing games can you drive with a touch screen?

Car Crush: Realistic Destruction and Enduro Cross Motorsport are our first touch picks for racing. Enduro Cross Motorsport, a dirt bike time trial , shows large on-screen buttons for throttle, brake and leaning, and Playhop lists it for mobile browsers. It opens in a new tab on Escape Road. Car Crush uses on-screen buttons on touch screens and plays on its own UBG76 page, although the full set of keyboard shortcuts makes it a little smoother on a computer. Drive Zone Online also plays on its UBG76 page with on-screen buttons for steering, gas and brake, and Charger City Driver uses on-screen buttons too.

Which idle games play well on a phone?

Plinko Idle and Hidden Grimoire: Idle Alchemy are the two idle games here that support touch. Every action in Plinko Idle is a tap, and CrazyGames lists it for desktop, mobile and tablet browsers. Its cash is in-game money only, with no real bets or payouts. Hidden Grimoire works with taps in the browser on itch.io, and its developer also offers an Android app.

Idle games suit phones in general. CrazyGames notes that most of them “have basic controls and rules, making them ideal for casual players.” The catch is that most idle games on UBG76 are built for a mouse, so check the idle games comparison for the touch column before you pick one.

Which games have we not confirmed on a phone yet?

Rise of the Mogul is the one game still without a verdict. Its Make a Deal button responds to taps, but when we tested it in Chrome at phone size, the tabs and upgrade screens sat below the bottom of the screen and the game frame would not scroll to them. The itch.io page says nothing about phones, and we have not checked it on an iPhone yet.
